Best Website Design for Therapists: Example from an Industry Leader
Over the past few years I’ve specialised in website design for therapists, psychotherapists, coaches and female entrepreneurs in the wellness & personal development world.
AND what I know for sure is that your website needs to be a true reflection of you so that you can instantly connect with your dream clients.
THAT is what I want to help you with today, how you can create that in person you into your online you. M’kay, let’s do this…
Does a Therapist Need a Website?
Yes, and here’s why!
You see when you have a business that is based around you and the services you offer, your clients need to feel comfortable with working with you, especially as a therapist (or coach).
They need to feel like you ‘get them’ straight out the gate, that this is the person they need to help them solve their problems.
For this to happen you need to make sure that, who you are in the outside world is reflected in your branding, photos and website - the ‘soul’ of you. That’s why I like to call what I do, soulfully aligned branding.
Bring real life you, into your online presence because people finding you online don’t get the magic that is meeting you in person - we want to make it so that they do!
What Should a Therapist Website Include?
Homepage
About
Services / Work with Me
These can have separate pages depending on your offerings or it could just go on one main Services page
Contact
Disclaimer & Terms of Use
Extras…
Blog
Book/s
Testimonials
Online Program
I think testimonials are such an important part of service based businesses or in fact any business. You don’t necessarily have to have a separate page for this but I would advise you to have them peppered throughout your website.
Example of a Professional Website Design for Therapists
You may know of Lucy Beresford from her popular TedTalk which has over 2.5 million views (link the video, as external links to credible websites are great for SEO). As a renowned psychotherapist and TV personality in London, Lucy came to me because she wanted to represent herself better online.
Lucy was ready to uplevel her business, have her website look more professional and as I’ve mentioned above - have it be a true reflection of who she is NOW not a few years ago when her website was last updated.
Whenever I start a new brand identity for a client, I have them fill in a questionnaire and create a brand vision board in Pinterest.
I have the questionnaire as I believe you need to go a little deeper within, to truly understand who you are and what you (and your clients) are looking for in your brand - especially when creating a website design for therapists.
I ask for the brand vision board because I believe you need to understand what you truly love visually.
You can check out the questions I ask all my clients and the step by step process of how to create your own brand vision board here, in my FREE brand workshop >>>
The most important takeaway from working with Lucy was that she had the most different brand vision board in Pinterest that I’d ever seen. She watched my brand workshop and didn’t add in logos she liked, other website designs for inspiration or font suggestions.
She listened to the part in the workshop where I said - pin images that make you FEEL something, that feel like you, what you’re about - what you love. And she did.
Here’s a snapshot of Lucy’s Pinterest board…
I actually photographed Lucy in her home in London and it was like stepping into her Pinterest board. The interior of her home and her wardrobe were an absolute match to everything she’d pinned - because it was truly her at her essence.
I believe I created who Lucy is in person in real life onto her ‘online’ home, so that when people find her online, they will get to know the real her and be attracted to that. She will magnetise her ideal clients.
I was able to do that because she took the time to go deeper with the questions asked and her mood board. So I urge you to do the same, here’s an article I wrote that goes more in depth on how to create a brand identity for your business.
Easily Develop Your Brand with Website Templates for Therapists
We’ve covered what your website should include and whether you even need a website - I hope this one was very clear. But let me quickly say, I think therapists may believe the old notion where you’re not in the limelight and it’s not about you, it’s about your clients - but that’s not true in terms of your website.
Your potential clients need to feel safe to work with you and you do that by creating a beautiful brand that aligns with you and your business.
Firstly you want to create the elements you want for your brand, you can read my blog here for more info on this or watch my workshop here.
Secondly, you want to create the website itself whether you do it yourself or you hire someone like me to do it, you want to make sure you’re happy with the platform your site will be on.
My recommendation is Squarespace, as I’m a Squarespace designer myself and I use this platform as it’s super easy to use and my clients love it!
If you’re going the DIY route, all website building platforms have templates already created so that you can input your imagery, copy and branding BUT they’re not specifically designed for your business.

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to make your website a true reflection of you, if you haven’t done so already. I’m telling you, it’s worth it so you can attract your dream clients and who knows - maybe get you invited to give a TedTalk where you get over 2 million views yourself?!
